Privacy Policy

Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how Koma - コマ Comics ("Koma"), developed by Plaintext Labs, handles information. Koma does not require an account, contains no advertising or analytics SDKs, and does not send your comic library or reading history to servers operated by Plaintext Labs.

Information stored on your device

Koma may store the following information locally to provide its features:

• Comic, ebook, PDF, and archive files that you import or download.
• Library metadata, thumbnails, cached pages, collections, favorites, and tags.
• Reading position, bookmarks, annotations, reading activity, and achievements.
• Reader, import, appearance, and notification preferences.
• OPDS server addresses, saved credentials, browsing state, and download history.

This information is used only to operate Koma on your device. Plaintext Labs cannot view or retrieve it.

Collection and sharing

Plaintext Labs does not collect, sell, rent, or share personal information from Koma. Koma does not use analytics, advertising identifiers, behavioral tracking, or developer-operated cloud storage.

When you deliberately connect Koma to an OPDS catalog, open a direct link, or download a file, your device communicates directly with the service or server you selected. That server may receive technical information normally included in a network request, such as your IP address, request details, and any credentials you provide. Plaintext Labs does not receive this information. The server operator's own privacy policy applies to that interaction.

Google Play and device services

Koma may use Google Play services to deliver fonts, check for app updates, and process optional support purchases. Google Play processes transactions; Plaintext Labs does not receive or store your payment-card details. Google's handling of information is governed by Google's own privacy policies.

Depending on your Android settings, Android's backup or device-transfer features may copy some Koma app data to your Google account or another device. These features are controlled by you, Android, and your device provider—not by Plaintext Labs.

Permissions

• Internet: used for OPDS catalogs, direct downloads, fonts, billing, and app updates.
• Notifications: used to show download and background-work progress when permitted.
• Foreground data service: used to keep user-requested imports and downloads reliable.
• Selected files and folders: used only when you choose content through Android's file picker or share content with Koma.

Security

Saved OPDS credentials are encrypted on supported devices using keys protected by the Android Keystore. Other app data is protected by Android's app sandbox. Network security also depends on the connection and server you choose; HTTPS connections provide stronger protection than unencrypted HTTP connections.

Retention and deletion

Locally stored information remains on your device until you remove the relevant library item or OPDS server, clear Koma's cache or app data, or uninstall Koma. Files stored outside Koma's private app storage may remain until you delete them using Android's file-management tools. Backup copies are managed through your Android or Google backup settings.

Children's privacy

Koma is a general-audience reading tool and does not knowingly collect personal information from children or any other users. Parents and guardians should supervise the content and external servers that children choose to access.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when Koma's features or legal obligations change. The current version will remain available at this address, and the date above will be updated when material changes are made.
